A lone wanderer with staff and gourd stands at the foot of a broad stone stairway rising to a colossal ruined temple gate strung with vermilion talismans, a ghostly tower beyond — a dry-brush ink painting.

Beyond the Gates of Kunlun

A role-playing game of cultivation and the Strange.

You are a Seeker, awakened to the Strange — the guài that moves beneath the surface of the world.

Your path is cultivation: refining body, energy, and spirit, one trial at a time. Every choice marks your soul, drawing you toward clarity and immortality — or toward corruption, and something else.

A world drawn from Daoist and Buddhist tradition: mystical, gothic, morally uncertain. You'll cross haunted temples, forgotten tombs, and fractured realms, and meet the Strange in each.

There is more to reality than we know. Always more.

One game. Two ways through the gate.

The tabletop game

Pen, paper, and dice — built to be run at your table.

The living game

Kunlun as a living world, run by AI. The same rules as the table, the whole game underneath — say what you do, and the world answers.

Dragon Gate Studio is an indie band of gamers, dreamers, and engineers, building living worlds at the edge of what tabletop RPGs can become.

Its founder, Nathan Brine, is a Daoist practitioner, author, and teacher in the Dragon Gate lineage — the tradition the game grows from.
